Welcome to B.A.S.E.

About us

Join us on a journey of discovery. Our mission is clear: to create food systems that are resilient, circular and sustainable so that humans can sustain themselves in the most extreme conditions imaginable. We are pioneers in creating smart, sustainable ways to grow food in space. With a decade of research under our belt, we have figured out ways to grow crops on the Moon and on Mars, turn biowaste into high-quality protein, and use waste products to fertilize regolith.

 

Now, we must build a special research facility where we test our innovations and make them work together as a circular system. This B.A.S.E. dome will give us a taste of what life will be like on other planets.

 

Join us and be part of a new chapter in space exploration. Your support is bringing us closer to feeding astronauts on their long journeys and making life on other planets possible. Because we believe that the taste of freshness is a bridge between worlds.

Goals

To turn our vision into reality we need to build a B.A.S.E.; a research facility in the form of a dome. It will be a fully operational greenhouse including plant growth chambers, rearing chambers for insects such as the mealworm, worm hotels for composting of organic matter and bumble bee hives for pollination. The B.A.S.E. also contains research facilities to perform analyses on all the produced foodtuffs. A B.A.S.E. prototype will first be built on the Wageningen University Campus as a test facility. When the B.A.S.E. is functioning optimally, replicas can be built on the Moon and Mars.

Insect Ecosystem: In our mealworm rearing chamber, we will harness the power of insects to recycle organic waste and provide essential nutrients. These tiny helpers are the key to sustainability in space.

 

Worm hotels: Waste is a valuable resource in space, and our worm hotels will compost organic waste into fertile soil, ensuring every resource is maximized.

 

Buzzing with Life: Bumble bee hives will hum with activity, playing a vital role in pollinating our crops. They are our space garden’s hidden heroes.

These general terms and conditions govern the use of the B.A.S.E. b.v., where donations are received to support research. By using this website you agree to these terms and conditions.

1. Purpose of the website
B.A.S.E. b.v. aims to conduct research in the field of closed food chains in space and on Earth. Donations via this website help finance this research.
2. Donations
All donations are voluntary and non-refundable. B.A.S.E. b.v. reserves the right to refuse donations if they conflict with the objectives of the organization.
3. Use of donations
B.A.S.E. b.v. will use all donations received for the specified research. Transparency about the use of donations is strived for.
4. Privacy
Personal data collected during the donation process will be treated according to the privacy policy available on this website.
5. Liability
B.A.S.E. b.v., including its employees and representatives, is not liable for any damage or loss resulting from the use of this website or making donations.
6. Applicable law
Dutch law applies to these general terms and conditions and the use of the website.
7. Changes to the terms and conditions
B.A.S.E. b.v. reserves the right to change these general terms and conditions at any time. Amended terms and conditions will become effective as soon as they are posted on the website.
8. Dispute Resolution
Disputes will initially be settled through consultation and negotiation. In the absence of an amicable settlement, disputes will be submitted to the Dutch court.

Privacy declaration
Bioregenerative Astrofood & Sustenance Engineering b.v. (hereinafter referred to as: B.A.S.E.) has drawn up this privacy statement to demonstrate that we take your privacy seriously. The following gives you an idea of how we within B.A.S.E. handle your personal data. All data collected by B.A.S.E. will be treated as strictly confidential and will not be made available to third parties for commercial purposes nor made public in any way. The information you provide to B.A.S.E. will be treated with the utmost care.
What data does B.A.S.E. store?
B.A.S.E. stores the following data of its donors and relations: the amounts donated, (first) name, address and place of residence (NAW data) as well as, if provided by the person concerned, telephone number(s) and email address. (extensive name and address details).
What do we use your data for?
The personal information you provide is used to send donor-related communications. Donor base statistics can be used to achieve the goals of B.A.S.E. support and improve.
Security of information
We take precautions to protect your personal information. All personal data can only be accessed by two employees of B.A.S.E.
For how long do we keep your data?
After canceling your donorship, the data will be removed from the active file as quickly as possible, but no later than within 3 months. If no cancellation is known, your data will be kept for a maximum of 24 months after the last payment or communication. For other long-term contractual obligations, the data will be kept for 24 months after the end of the term of the agreement. Exceptions to this are data that must be retained for a longer period by law (including the tax retention obligation).
Who can you contact?

Email us at info@wur-base.nl if you have any questions or comments about this privacy statement, to report a violation of the privacy statement, if you want us to correct or update your personal data in our files or if you object to its use of your data for communications to you. In response to a request from every registered donor or relation, B.A.S.E. will remove his or her personal data (or part thereof) from the database as quickly as possible, but no later than within 3 months. You have the right to inspect the information we hold about you. B.A.S.E. will honor a maximum of 2 requests for access per calendar year.

Deze algemene voorwaarden regelen het gebruik van de website van B.A.S.E. b.v., waar donaties worden ontvangen ter ondersteuning van onderzoek. Door gebruik te maken van deze website stemt u in met deze voorwaarden.

1. Doel van de website:
B.A.S.E. b.v. heet als doel onderzoek te verrichten op het gebied van gesloten voedselketens in de ruimte en op aarde. Donaties via deze website dragen bij aan het financieren van dit onderzoek.
2. Donaties
Alle donaties zijn vrijwillig en niet terugbetaalbaar. B.A.S.E. b.v. behoudt zicht het recht voor om donaties te weigeren indien deze in strijd zijn met de doelstellingen van de organisatie.
3. Gebruik van donaties
B.A.S.E. b.v. zal alle ontvangen donaties gebruiken voor het gespecificieerde onderzoek. Transparantie over de besteding van donaties wordt nagestreefd.
4. Privacy
Persoonlijke gegevens die tijdens het donatieproces worden verzameld, worden behandeld volgens het privacybeleid dat beschikbaar is op deze website.
5. Aansprakelijkheid
B.A.S.E. b.v., inclusief haar medewerkers en vertegenwoordigers, is niet aansprakelijk voor enige schade of verlies als gevolg van het gebruik van deze website of het doen van donaties.
6. Toepasselijk recht
Op deze algemene voorwaarden en het gebruik van de website is het Nederlands recht van toepassing.
7. Wijzigingen in de voorwaarden
B.A.S.E. b.v. behoudt zich het recht voor om deze algemene voorwaraden op elk moment te wijzigen. Gewijzigde voorwaarden worden van kracht zodra ze op de website geplaatst zijn.
8. Geschillenbeslechting
Geschillen zullen in eerste instantie worden beslecht via overleg en onderhandeling. Bij gebreke van een minnelijke schikking zullen geschillen worden voorgelegd aan de Nederlandse rechtbank.

Bioregenaritive Astrofood & Sustenance Engineering b.v. (hierna genoemd: B.A.S.E.) heeft deze privacyverklaring opgesteld om aan te tonen dat wij uw privacy serieus nemen. Het onderstaande geeft u een beeld hoe wij binnen B.A.S.E. met uw persoonlijke gegevens omgaan. Alle gegevens die door B.A.S.E. worden verzameld, zullen strikt vertrouwelijk behandeld worden en zullen absoluut niet aan derden ter beschikking worden gesteld voor commerciële doeleinden, noch op een of andere manier openbaar worden gemaakt. De informatie die u aan B.A.S.E. geeft zal met de grootst mogelijke zorg behandeld worden.
Welke gegevens bewaart B.A.S.E.?

B.A.S.E. slaat de volgende gegevens van haar donateurs en relaties op: de gedoneerde bedragen, (voor)naam, adres en woonplaats (NAW-gegevens) alsmede, indien door betrokkene verstrekt, telefoonnummer(s) en emailadres. (uitgebreide NAW-gegevens).

Waarvoor gebruiken we uw gegevens?
De persoonlijke gegevens die u verstrekt worden gebruikt voor het versturen van de aan de donateurs gerelateerde communicatie. Statistieken van het donateursbestand kunnen worden gebruikt om de doelstellingen van B.A.S.E. te ondersteunen en verbeteren.
Beveiliging van informatie
We treffen voorzorgsmaatregelen om uw persoonlijke gegevens te beveiligen. Tot alle persoonlijke gegevens is slechts toegang mogelijk door twee medewerkers van B.A.S.E.
Hoe lang bewaren wij uw gegevens?
Na afmelding van uw donateurschap zullen de gegevens zo snel mogelijk, doch uiterlijk binnen 3 maanden uit het actieve bestand verwijderd worden. Indien er geen afmelding bekend is zullen uw gegevens tot maximaal 24 maanden na de laatste betaling of communicatie bewaard worden. Voor andere langlopende contractuele verplichtingen zullen de gegevens tot 24 maanden na afloop van de looptijd van de overeenkomst bewaard worden. Uitgezonderd hierop zijn de gegevens welke wettelijk langer bewaard dienen te worden (waaronder de fiscale bewaarplicht).
Met wie kunt u contact opnemen?

Mail ons op info@wur-base.nl indien u vragen of opmerkingen heeft over deze privacyverklaring, om schending van de privacyverklaring te melden, indien u wilt dat wij uw persoonlijke gegevens in onze bestanden corrigeren of bijwerken of indien u bezwaar heeft tegen het gebruik van uw gegevens voor mededelingen aan u. B.A.S.E. zal naar aanleiding van een verzoek van elke geregistreerde donateur of relatie zijn of haar persoonlijke gegevens (of een deel daarvan) zo snel mogelijk doch uiterlijk binnen 3 maanden uit de database verwijderen. U heeft het recht op inzage in de informatie die wij over u bewaren. Per kalenderjaar zal B.A.S.E. maximaal 2 verzoeken tot inzage honoreren.
